Air conditioner service without indoor unit removal

In offices, houses, and apartments, the split wall mounted system is the system most commonly installed. These systems often prove to be effective machines for creating a comfortable atmospheric environment and for regulating temperature, cleanliness, and humidity. However, regular service should not be forgotten, and should be carried out according to a specific schedule. 

While servicing of a split system, technicians may remove and disassemble the air conditioner’s indoor unit, or they may clean it without doing so. This depends on how long the air conditioner has been in use and how dirty its parts are. Whether or not to remove the indoor is decided on inspection. 

The term “Standard Service” means that the unit will be only partly disassembled, without removing the main unit, which will it stay put. This method works for relatively new or recently cleaned systems. In this case, disassembly is not required. 

Cleaning an air conditioner plays an important role in maintaining equipment effectiveness and creating a comfortable microclimate. Cleaning is recommended at least twice per year in order to remove accumulated filth in a timely manner. 

A special AC cleaning cover is used when working without indoor unit removal. After partial disassembly of the indoor unit, a special cleaning liquid is applied with pressure to the surface of the heat exchanger, evaporator, fan, and fan case. 

Afterward, the liquid is caught by the special AC cleaning cover, which has a drain hole connected to a hose, the end of which is connected to a container that collects the liquid. 

This method of cleaning works for relatively clean air conditioners. But it can also be used when the air conditioner is considerably dirty, but removing the indoor unit is impossible due to various reasons. After the air conditioner is cleaned, its settings, the temperature of the boiling refrigerant, pressure, and electrical load are checked. If necessary, the air conditioner can be charged with refrigerant or completely refilled after conducting a preliminary recovery of the refrigerant in the system. 

The technician cleaning of the indoor unit’s parts wears gloves and uses special cleaning agents. Removing deposits of mud from the fan blade and evaporator using agents containing antibacterial compounds and clean water is recommended. Dust and debris are also cleaned from the water catcher, after which all of its parts are meticulously cleaned. 

It is worth remembering that some inexpensive air conditioner models are often Chinese-made and are not meant to be disassembled and reassembled often. These indoor units are made of a material which cannot withstand loads and can be damaged during disassembly. Higher quality models made by major brands do not have this problem. 

Regular servicing conducted in accordance with technical requirements and recommendations guarantees your equipment will operate effectively and for a considerable length of time. Experience shows that preventative cleaning helps substantially diminish the likelihood of system malfunctions. In addition, it can prevent a reduction in energy efficiency—in other words, regular service enabled energy use optimization.
